Finch Review: 6 Ups & 4 Downs

2. Miguel Sapochnik's Rock Solid Direction

Though director Miguel Sapochnik has one prior film credit to his name - 2010's forgettable sci-fi actioner Repo Men - he's absolutely best known for his Emmy-winning work on Game of Thrones, particularly helming the fan favourite episode "Battle of the Bastards."

Sapochnik has lent his chops to numerous other hit TV shows such as House, True Detective, Iron Fist, and Altered Carbon, but Finch marks just his second-ever feature film, more than a decade after his first no less.

While many TV directors struggle to convincingly make the leap over to film, Finch proves that's not the case here at all - as both a stylist and an actors' director, Sapochnik confirms himself a highly capable filmmaker.

The question now, then, becomes what he might challenge himself with next, because he's clearly proven himself worthy of handling a large cinematic canvas.

It wouldn't be remotely surprising if the Marvel Cinematic Universe came a-knocking in the near-future.
