Frozen 2 Review: 5 Ups & 5 Downs
1. The Remarkable Voice Acting
Much like the original, Frozen 2's voice cast is absolutely exemplary, be it during the many operatic tunes or the more conventional scripted story itself.
Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell are the obvious standouts as Elsa and Anna, though with Olaf's expanded role, Josh Gad confirms just how expertly cast he is in the part, and Jonathan Groff again makes for an effortlessly endearing Kristoff.
The entire ensemble kills it, even with some of the peripheral supporting roles proving disappointingly piecemeal, and like the first film, it's clear that the production was more concerned with finding the right actors, as opposed to stars, to fill the parts.
It's a shame the cast doesn't have stronger material to work with, sure, but they can't shoulder any of the blame whatsoever, because their work is uniformly terrific throughout.
