Golden Globes 2020: 10 Ups & 6 Downs

4. Missing Link's Shock Best Animated Film Win

Easily the biggest surprise of the night was Missing Link picking up the Best Animated Film award, fending off not only three Disney films in Frozen II, The Lion King, and Toy Story 4, but also How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.

As fantastic as animation studio Laika is, Missing Link is undeniably their weakest film to date, not to forget the fact that it bombed at the box office. That it edged out Toy Story 4, the bookies' easy favourite to win the category, was truly shocking.

On one hand it's great to see the work of so many talented stop-motion artists recognised, but on pure cinematic merits, this was probably the third-best film of the five.
