In the past couple of years, no star has risen faster than that of Zendaya. She has been picking up awards left, right & centre for her role as Rue in Euphoria, including becoming the youngest woman to ever win Best Actress at the Emmys. just a few months ago. More than that she will star in the new Dune movie and has been critically praised for her role as Marie in Malcolm & Marie.

The film, which was written and directed by Euphoria creator Sam Levinson, was shot during the current pandemic, with John David Washington in the role of Malcolm. It depicts the night that a Hollywood director (Malcolm) returns home from the premiere of his acclaimed movie and his ensuing discussion with his wife Marie. It has garnered good reviews from critics and was widely expected to have some kind of nomination at the Golden Globes but was frozen out in favour of other films.

However, the omission of Zendaya for her role as Marie has furrowed brows. It has been a tough category this year with 4 of the 5 nominated performances nailed on by pretty much everybody but Andra Day's role as Billie Holiday was a shock nomination, since most thought it'd go to Zendaya.
