Greg Berlanti zooms to first place in THE FLASH directing race!!

Things are definitely starting to take shape at Warner Bros, and their previously promised early 2010 announced DC Entertainment strategy is starting to look a lot clearer. After the exciting news that the Batman family are working on the new Superman reboot, comes an IESB exclusive that the studio have a firm favourite to take over The Flash franchise. They say former Dawson's Creek and current Eli Stone writer Greg Berlanti is the leading contender to write and direct the long in-gestation adaptation of DC's fastest superhero. This shouldn't be all-together that surprising as we know Warner Bros are keen on Berlanti having previously hired him to write and direct The Flash's Justice League buddy Green Lantern. It's believed that Berlanti did most of the getting the wheels in motion development on Lantern before WB brought in the more experienced action helmer Martin Campbell to direct and see it through to the end, ordering a few re-writes that were more to his liking. Despite WB replacing Berlanti as filming was edging nearer, it's said WB were impressed by his work and they want to give him another go - this time on The Flash - a property we should remember they have always believed has something of a comedic edge. Previous attached directors include Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum, Cheaper by the Dozen) and David Dobkin (The Wedding Crashes) - so they were always going to hire someone like Berlanti - who has a rom-com of his own opening at the end of the year. Barry Allen I guess will be The Flash appearing in the movie, and it will probably be an origin tale (I would perfer a passing of the torch movie like The Mask of Zorro, in an ideal world).
