13. Expect Tears... LOTS Of Tears

Guardians Of The Galaxy remains the most emotionally devastating of all the MCU's movies to date: it starts with the Pixar style gut-punch of watching Meredith Quill devastatingly die of cancer, before her son is mercilessly ripped away from what remains of his family, and ends with a briefly terrifying heroic sacrifice by Groot.

Considering it's also one of the franchise's funniest offerings (aside from Ant-Man, it's probably top of the pile), that is pretty remarkable. And the good news is that the sequel is heading in the same direction, with repeated assurances from the early press viewers that it will make you cry.

Or it will at least be incredibly profound and connect on a deeper level...
