Guardians Of The Galaxy Holiday Special: 10 Songs It Must Include

6. Funky, Funky Xmas - New Kids On The Block

Written by Donnie Wahlberg and Maurice Starr, "Funky, Funky, Xmas" was only one of the ten Christmas songs to star on the Merry, Merry Christmas album by New Kids on the Block. This was the band's third studio album published by Columbia Records in 1989. The album went double platinum and produced the top ten single "This One's for the Children".

You might never have actually heard of this song before and to be completely honest with you, neither had I until I started researching for this list. That said, most of the songs featured on the first two volumes of the Awesome Mixtape were almost unknown to today's modern moviegoers. How many of us had actually heard "The Rubberband Man" by The Spinners before its inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?

The song is a perfect throwback to when boybands where at their peak in the 1980s and it seems completely understandable why Peter Quill would remember this song - even if the rest of us have not.
