6. Idle Hands (1999)

Young Anton Tobias wakes up one Halloween to find his murdered parents propped up as Halloween decorations - sans heads, if I remember correctly. It turns out Anton's hand has gone wacko and might just be responsible for their murders. The blood-thirsty appendage has a definite mind of its own; a mind it uses to quickly destroy everything Anton holds dear. This is a very underrated comedy/horror film. There are some pretty big names (Jessica Alba and Seth Green) and some decent young actors. To be sure, there is some bad acting, but the story and the comedy (sprinkled with tons of gore) more than make up for it. Make sure you watch this one.
5. Dr. Terror's House of Horrors (1965)

Horror seems to really lend itself to the anthology format popularized by the great 1945 British horror film Dead of Night. Dr. Terror's House of Horrors is one such film. The movie begins with five men entering a train heading from London to Bradley. A sixth man, Doctor Schreck enters the train and proceeds to use a tarot deck to tell each of the other five passengers something of their future. This is the setting for the five chapters of the film. On a side note, Dr. Schreck is an obvious reference to Max Schreck of Nosferatu fame. Also schreck means "terror" in German, hence the name of the movie. The fourth segment of Dr. Terror portrays Christopher Lee as a snobbish and self-important art critic named Marsh. One day Marsh is exceedingly harsh on a budding artist. The artist attempts to retaliate, causing Marsh to run the man down with his automobile. As we've seen in some of the earlier movies on this list, a hand severed by a vehicle will always acquire a life of its own. The newly-sentient paw thus begins to haunt Marsh, resisting all attempts to destroy its unnatural life. A pretty good movie. Watch it until the end for a nice, but often used, plot twist.
