How Avengers: Endgame Was Almost Completely Different

2. Professor Hulk Was Already Supposed To Be Introduced

Professor Hulk's debut was one of the biggest and best moments in Endgame, with Bruce Banner making peace with the large green lad living inside of him to become brains and brawn in one neat package. Discovering him living the life of a celebrity, Hulk has to wave away avid fans wanting to take his picture in a hilarious scene with poor, forgotten Antman vying for a bit of attention - though the filmmakers originally envisioned this scene a little differently.

Rather than appearing in Endgame, Professor Hulk was intended as an Infinity War feature, becoming his best self in Wakanda where he hammered out his 'performance issues'. "It was a lot of fun, but it came at the wrong moment. It was an up, right when everyone else was down," Markus said, with the pair writing in gene-splicing lab scenes before deciding the ride the whole scene out around Antman's 'I'm so confused' moment instead.

This seems to work much better, giving credence to the five year time gap and Bruce Banner's development without wasting time unnecessarily pushing him. There's space to come back and revisit his transformation if needed, but for what amounts to a jump-cut to this new and improved Hulk that he's been working on for years to figure out: they definitely did him comedy justice, and reflected fans equally impressed and mind-blown reactions.
