Jurassic Park Cast: Where Are They Now?
3. Sam Neill (Alan Grant)
Sam Neill starred as Dr Alan Grant, a well-known and well-regarded palaeontologist invited by John Hammond as one of the experts required to verify the original Jurassic Park's safety. Dr Grant marvels at the herbivorous wonders Hammond has brought to life and, though he makes it off the island alive - as well as returning to the park's B-site, Isla Sorna, in Jurassic Park III (2001) - things go very wrong very quickly and he has to flee all manner of carnivores in a desperate fight for his life.
Neill has had a strong and varied film and television career since the 1993 film, appearing in blockbusters and indie flicks alike, encompassing films by Sally Potter, Zack Snyder, and semi-frequent collaborator Taika Waititi. He has also lent his voice to a smattering of animated features, including Peter Rabbit (2018) and Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway (2021) as badger Tommy Brock.
Recently, such curious fare as Rams (2020) -- an Australian comedy-drama about two brothers and some sheep -- has kept him busy on-screen, and the rest of his time is spent raising his own flock of sheep, whom he names after his co-stars, including Jeff Goldblum and James Nesbitt.
Neill starred alongside Goldblum and under Waititi again in 2017's Thor: Ragnarok, in a cameo as the Odin player at Loki's Asgardian theatre, a role he will reprise in Thor: Love and Thunder. He is also set to return to the Jurassic series as Dr Alan Grant in 2022's Dominion.
