Jurassic World 2 Trailer - 11 Big Things We Learned

2. Disappointingly, The Dinos Are All CG

Though the practical effects in the original Jurassic Park are some of greatest effects of any kind ever put to film, Jurassic World made the odd decision to move away from this, focusing more on digitally-rendered dinosaurs.

They looked okay, but there was something about those original animatronics and puppets, something that upped the tension and sense of danger. You can't create the same feeling when the audience knows there's nothing really there but pixels, and considering Bayona is known for his suspenseful horror movies, it's strange that he doesn't realise this himself.

Sure, the dinosaurs in the trailer all look flawless - as they should, given the budget this project has - but it's hard not to feel that the whole movie would be a lot more convincing (especially the reactions of the actors) if the filmmakers used animatronics wherever possible.

Maybe the film does feature a ton of animatronics, but the trailer didn't show any of these scenes. But based purely on the footage we've got, it appears Fallen Kingdom will be following the CGI-laden path set by its predecessor.

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
