Justice League: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

4. Were The Amazons Transformed Into Parademons?

Building on Wonder Woman's success, Themyscira and the Amazons get a surprising amount of screentime in the first half of Justice League, defending their motherbox while Steppenwolf plans an attack to steal it by force. Sacking the island and killing most of its super-powered inhabitants, when the villain finally succeeds in his mission, he oddly stands around proclaiming that the race of warriors are all going to love him.

Just before this, the film showed regular soldiers being transformed into Steppenwolf's Parademons, and because the villain never says anything like this again, it could be implied that the remaining Amazons were turned into his demonic followers. If not, then the fate of the Amazons is a weird thread that's never returned to; they're never seen again after the motherbox is stolen, and what Steppenwolf meant when he said they'd come to love him is never explained.

By not answering the question, or even returning to this plot line at all, Warner Bros. have lumped a future movie with having to deal with this baggage, leaving it to Wonder Woman 2 to pick up the pieces.
