Justice League: 10 Biggest Questions It Leaves Unanswered

As a result of being tasked with introducing so many characters in Justice League, the film only gives viewers the cliffnotes on each new hero's backstory. Consequently, pretty much all we know for sure about Aquaman so far is that he can talk to fish.

However, there is one major sequence early on in the movie where The King of the Seven Seas travels to Atlantis and fights Steppenwolf alongside Amber Heard's Mera that hints towards a larger story. Here it's revealed that as of now, Aquaman probably isn't the well-respected king that he is in the comics, and has a rather troubled relationship with his family and destiny.

It's very clearly a tease for James Wan's upcoming film based on the hero, but in the context of Justice League it only adds more questions to a blockbuster that's already bursting with narrative threads that go nowhere. Outside of comic book fans, nobody would even know this was supposed to be Mera, or why she's positioned as such a significant figure in the story.

In fact, this whole sequence could have been cut out entirely, as the consequences of the interaction are never followed through on, and Aquaman never even mentions his underwater escapade to the rest of the team.
