19. Steppenwolf

Despite Superman's not-quite-invisible moustache being a pretty bad low-point, the worst of all of the decidedly iffy effects work is Steppenwolf himself.

Having clearly learned absolutely nothing from Suicide Squad's Incubus debacle, Warner Bros unthinkably allowed Zack Snyder to include Steppenwolf as a fully digital character. It did not work in the slightest, and the technology behind it still doesn't look up to its one job.

Sure, Ciaran Hinds offered a strong vocal performance behind the look, but Steppenwolf looked terrible (like a cross between a goat and a viking according to one of the more savage reviews) and it's all just horrendously dumb. What exactly was wrong with having him look more like he did in the comics?
