1. The Tone Feels Right

We weren't so sure ahead of Comic-Con, but following our most in-depth look at Justice League so far, we can safely say the tone feels appropriate.

Nobody wants another joyless romp through Gotham and Metropolis a la Batman v Superman, and Zack Snyder is aware of that (no doubt the studio made sure of it).

It's clear from the latest trailer that Justice League is aiming to strike a balance between gritty superheroism, in-depth mythology and lighthearted character exchanges to break up the tension.

The footage has its dark moments. Those shots of Batman in action are gratifyingly gothic, but a few quips from The Flash and Aquaman bring balance to the equation.

Meanwhile, the action is hard-hitting and does its best to ensure we feel the sting of every blow, and the larger skirmishes appear to shooting for the kind of ambitious scale you'd normally associate with Lord of the Rings.

Whether that's a good fit for Batman and Superman remains to be seen, but Justice League fans no longer live in a world without hope following the latest trailer.
