And, as if to establish that Holbrook's Pierce is a man not to be trifled with, he totally gets the better of Logan here, not something many men have been able to say.

Logan charges at him, but receives a gun and then a boot to the face. Of course, we don't see the full fight, but it seems Logan does lose here, which fits with suggestions that his powers are waning at least a little, and helps build Pierce as a worthy adversary for him.
