Maleficent: 10 Other Disney Villains Who Deserve Their Own Movies

9. Scar - The Lion King

Next up is the murderous lion who scarred the hearts and minds of a million children back in the 1990's. Scar is one of the more ruthless villains on this list, murdering his brother Mufasa in cold blood to steal the crown from him and take over the Pride Lands. However, even the most evil antagonists are driven by their past in some way, so it would be fascinating to see how Scar became the lion who would kill his own family to claim the throne. From the outset, it's clear that Scar has always been jealous of his older brother, meticulously planning his downfall for years. A Scar origin movie could delve into their shared past, perhaps beginning with a solid relationship between the two brothers which slowly crumbles as Mufasa becomes ruler and envy takes over. Scars relationship with the hyenas could also be established in this movie, perhaps showing him explore the Elephant Graveyard as a cub, paralleling Simba in the original Lion King film. The issue with a movie like this is that every character is an animal and Disney may struggle to credibly adapt this story to live action unless they use human actors. The hugely successful Broadway show proved it can work, but the film would need to establish it's own identity, separate to that of the stage musical. Dream Casting: Jason Momoa Whichever route Disney decides to take in its (currently imaginary) Scar project, Jason Momoa is a perfect fit for the lead. His physical appearance in Game of Thrones has already led many fans to make the link online and he possesses a dark charisma that would be vital to tackle this role successfully.
