4. No P.I.S
"What is P.I.S?" I hear some of you ask? Well, P.I.S is 'Plot-Induced-Stupidity' - a phenomena that appears mostly in comic books, but also in film/television etc, whereby a character - often the titular hero - conveniently forgets that he has a certain superpower or ability in order to make a scenario more nail-biting. Take Superman's fights against Doomsday as an example. Doomsday is a mindless killing machine whose strength and durability rivals that of Superman. However, he has never displayed any kind of notable super-speed - and yet he has still managed to kill Superman in physical combat. Why, in the name of Jor-El, did Superman - a man who has displayed travel and reaction speed beyond the speed of light - opt to go blow-for-blow with a big lumbering oaf like Doomsday? Why not punch him in the head a million times before Doomsday could even process a thought? Why not dump him at the other end of the universe and fly back in a matter of seconds? That would be too easy and would make for a boring plot, admittedly, but it goes totally against the fact that Clark Kent is supposed to be an intelligent individual - stupidity induced by the plot, so to speak (hence 'P.I.S'). In this movie, in which Superman is fighting a fellow Kryptonian whose speed should be of a similar nature, I want to see both combatants utilising their speed, going all out against each other, in a display of power that only two Kryptonians could exhibit on screen in DC's movie universe. On that note...
