Marvel Cinematic Universe: 10 Characters That Should Get Their Own 'One Shots'

1. Hawkeye And Black Widow

Budapest Hawkeye and Black Widow have appeared in two Marvel films each (Hawkeye in Thor and the Avengers, Black Widow in Iron Man 2 and the Avengers), yet we still know virtually nothing about their backstories. Though they were given a fair share of the spotlight in The Avengers, it was hard for audiences to care about two people we know so little about. Where do they come from? How are these two mortals able to be a part of The Avengers? And, most importantly, what is their history together? Luckily for us, there was a small hint in the Avengers that could later be mined for either a film plot or a One Shot: Budapest. During the final battle in New York, Black Widow comments that the fight reminds her of Budapest. Hawkeye responds by saying, "You and I remember Budapest very differently." I say, give us a prequel story showing the Budapest job, how they both got together, what sort of history they have, and how they ultimately became members of S.H.I.E.L.D. before any of the other heroes. That may sound like a lot to cover in a short film, but if done right it could be fun, action packed, and give us a glimpse of these two characters without the need to do so in future films. Those are my ten picks for characters that deserve the One Shot treatment, but what do you think? Who would you like to see featured in a short film of their own? And do you think that One Shots are a smart way for Marvel to showcase new characters (and flesh out characters we already know)? Let us know in the comments!
