8. Will Rocket Raccoon Survive Phase Five?
One of the most anticipated movies that will make up Phase Five is Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3, something that fans have been waiting for ever since Volume 2 released over five years ago. There has been an entire Spider-Man trilogy released since a Guardians movie!
It was great to have James Gunn back on the Hall H stage talking about the Guardians of the Galaxy, and much of what he said related to how this was the end of his Guardians story. A surprising amount of this seemed to revolve around the arc of Rocket Raccoon.
Immediately, when people start talking about the end of a story, or a character’s arc coming to a close in a comic book movie, you can’t help but think about the possibility of their death. This is absolutely the case with Rocket Raccoon, who has been one of the most popular MCU characters ever since his introduction. The movie will deal with his past, almost like an origin story, but what does the character’s future hold?
He has gone from a criminal in and out of prisons across the galaxy to a Guardian, an Avenger, and a father. After Groot’s death in Guardians 1 and Yondu in Guardians 2, could Rocket’s death in Guardians 3 top them all?
