MCU: 12 Worst Casting Decisions In Marvel Movies
2. Gwyneth Paltrow – Pepper Potts
Perhaps it’s because the name Gwyneth Paltrow is more synonymous
with her patronising and unrealistically aspirational lifestyle blog Goop – in
which she advocates ridiculous things like bread-free sandwiches, vaginal
steaming (?!?) and $950 toilet paper – than her award-winning career of yore.
Maybe it’s because, as Tony Stark’s colleague and love interest Pepper Pots, she brings very little in the way of fun and humour in what is one of the funniest franchises in the MCU. And for a love interest she shares a startling lack of chemistry with her very charismatic co-star, seeming to exist only as an annoying and occasionally hysterical damsel in distress who derides Tony when he’s trying to do important stuff like, you know, saving the world and sh*t.
Thankfully Paltrow has been absent from the MCU since 2013’s Iron Man 3 and if recent rumours about her decision to retire from acting are to be believed, we won’t be seeing her unremarkable take on Pepper Potts again.
