MCU: 14 Things You Learn Rewatching The Avengers
3. There Are Way Too Many Convenient Rule Breaks
There's a LOT of convenient writing in The Avengers. First off, the laws of the Mind Stone in Loki's sceptre are completely malleable to whatever situation they're operating in. For instance how exactly does Dr Selvig simply wake up from his mind control without the same deprogramming Hawkeye went through? Why is their mind control different in both cases?
And how can Selvig resist his control enough to build the most convenient backdoor into the Tesseract portal device?
On top of that, Loki's body can deflect bullets, but Thor can be stabbed. Chitauri can be deactivated by killing the mothership but pulling wires out of their heads doesn't "kill them." Loki can phase away, as he does to get out of the steel trap, but he somehow can't when he's faced down by the Avengers at the end on Stark Tower. It's all very... convenient.
And then in the interest of a gag, Hulk can speak, despite the fact that it's later established in Thor: Ragnarok that he can only speak like a child because he's been in control of Banner's body for two years. In other words, when he says "puny God" it's impossible.
