Before the newest Thor: Ragnarok trailer was released, there was already a pretty clear indication that it is going to be hysterical, even despite the weighty subject matter. Who says death, planetary destruction and destroyed friendships can't be the best back-drop for LOLs?

Now that it's here, it's increasingly obvious that Taika Waititi has channelled a lot of what has underpinned his career to date to make what looks like one of the funniest MCU movies so far. And impressively, it was an exercise in improv, according to its director.

Waititi spoke to MTV while in San Diego and revealed that about 80 percent of the film was improvised.

“My style of working is I’ll often be behind the camera, or right next to the camera yelling words at people, like, ‘Say this, say this! Say it this way!’ I’ll straight-up give Anthony Hopkins a line reading. I don’t care.”

That would sound like a disaster waiting to happen in anyone else's hands, but with Waititi, it just makes it all the more exciting.
