7. The Skrulls Will Appear - Captain Marvel

After waiting a whole bloody year, we finally have some more concrete details on Captain Marvel, and following the surprising 90s revelation, there's even more shocking news on who she'll be fighting.

Despite the fact that we've long been led to believe that the Skrulls weren't available to Marvel, because Fox own the movie rights, the infamous shape-changing aliens will in fact turn up as a key part of Captain Marvel. They were featured in key concept art that was then subsequently shown off all over social media...

Does this mean we'll get to see the film set against the back-drop of the Kree/Skrull war? Will that lead to Marvel's origin story directly? Who knows... What we do know is that Fox didn't actually own all of the rights to the characters at all, as James Gunn has cleared up...

Whether this will all lead to Marvel's Secret Invasion as the next step in the MCU after Infinity War and Avengers 4 remains to be seen, but at least we know it's possible now.
