MCU: 20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Avengers

14. Hugin & Munin

You could talk for days about how Odin was a horrible father. In an MCU filled with shocking parents, he stands out as one of the worst for how he treated Hela and Loki in particular. He did at least send someone to watch over Thor when he sent him back down to Earth.

There have been scenes that have included Odin’s ravens in Thor and Thor: The Dark World, and they have been mentioned by both Thor and Valkyrie in conversation. However, they also appeared in The Avengers, though it was the definition of a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment.

When Odin mustered up an absurd amount of dark energy to send Thor to Midgard, there was no knowing what would happen between him and Loki. This must be why he sent with his eldest son both Hugin and Munin to be the Allfather’s eyes and ears when he couldn't be his own.

When Thor grabs Loki and takes him from the Quinjet, the two ravens can be seen perching nearby on some rocks, and circling the conversation. To the untrained eye these are just ravens, but in reality there can be little doubt that these were the spies of Odin, ready to report back on what exactly his sons had been up to.
