Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster in Thor: Ragnarok was inspired casting, and a fantastic addition to the radical overhaul of the franchise in 2017. The Jurassic Park alum's natural weird and wonderfulness fit perfectly with that of Taika Waititi, making the Collector's brother one of the highlights of a movie filled with highlights.

By the end of the movie, the ruler of Sakaar becomes a victim of revolution from his people, with his ultimate fate being left unknown until the credits were done. The final scene shows Goldblum emerge from a crashed ship, only to be surrounded by those that revolted against him. You have to admire his spirit in trying to claim a draw from such a situation.

The only reason for this scene is comedic value. It may have potentially been to show the Grandmaster was still alive, and tease further appearances in the MCU down the line, however he is not likely to have survived the altercation with the enraged Sakarrians all around him.
