Ant-Man's brief glimpse into the Microverse this summer only scratched the surface of the level of weird Doctor Strange will be taking fans to when he arrives in November next year. Though he was name-checked in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it wasn't until last December that Marvel finally confirmed Benedict Cumberbatch's landing of the role.

His enthusiasm has seemed more than genuine and it's since been confirmed that he'll be joined by Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One. And in recent days, the always great Mads Mikkelsen has come up in talks to join in as well, likely as the film's non-Mordo villain, such as Mephisto or Dormammu.

Doctor Strange is the MCU's big opportunity to go all out with its more mystical, magical aspects to present a whole new playing field that's only been suggested so far. The character has been one that many have been looking forward to seeing and it's hard to doubt that Marvel will fail the Sorcerer Supreme in giving him the film he deserves.
