Mother's Day 2013: 10 Movies For Guys To Watch With Their Mums

The Notebook

The NotebookWhy you'll love it: Did you just scrunch your face up? You did? You my friend, are a liar. You love this movie so stop fronting. How do I know? Because everyone in the world loves Ryan Gosling (I did the research, it's a fact). Men are romantics at heart no matter how tough we pretend to be and this movie delivers on our romantic/heroic aspirations. We've all had that girl we were prepared to do whatever it took to win over (I was lucky enough to marry her, wink). Gosling is just handsomer at doing it than we are. Love winning out in the end, what a notion! By the time we reach James Garner, at the end of the movie, not a dry eye in the house. That scene where he waits for Gina Rowland to remember their life together, only to forget again while at dinner -- heartbreaking. That scene breaks me apart. Every. Single. Time. Hold on, I need a moment... Why mom will love it: You're kidding, right? Moving on.

I'm married and live in New York with my wife and pets. I'm a writer and definitely not a comedian (just ask my wife). I've successfully linked my twitter, goodreads, facebook and google+ pages although the successful aspect of all that is up for debate. I also started my own blog on wordpress and have just finished my first novel, The Violent Winds. Now it's time to try and trick some unsuspecting fool into buying it.
