New Deadpool Trailer: 8 Major Revelations From Director Tim Miller

4. The Right Amount Of Gore

As well as being pretty heavy on swearing, both of the Red-Band trailers for Deadpool haven't exactly held back when it comes to showing off blood and guts. In the opening few moments of this latest preview we see the Merc with the Mouth skewer some guy on his swords, but Miller has promised that we're not going to be getting Punisher: War Zone levels of gratuitous gore in the movie just for the sake of it. "I€™m not a fan of gratuitous gore," he admits. "I think it€™s appropriate, so we did more than I think the studio was comfortable with, even for an R, but I don€™t think it€™s going to really ruin the movie for people that are uncomfortable with it. Maybe a little bit if you have a low tolerance. But there€™s a fight in the second act that I think we have a couple of shots for, where Deadpool and Ajax fight in this burning building that is one of my favourite moments. It€™s a great action piece and it€™s also a really amazing character moment both for the character of Deadpool but for Wade as well, in the movie. I f*cking loved it. It€™s just a great scene." So, there will be a lot, but not an excessive amount. It sounds like Miller has found the right balance, and while it's a little concerning that the studio were concerned with how much is in there, the fact that the director himself isn't a fan should mean that we have more inventive action sequences to look forward to than never ending shots of blood and brains being flung all over the place.
