Once Upon A Deadpool Review: 4 Ups & 5 Downs

1. The Finale Is A Re-Edited Mess

Though large chunks of the movie are cleverly re-edited to slice away the brutality and naughty words, the third act is a tad more troublesome because so much of what happens is directly centred on violent activity with little prospect of additional coverage to conceal it.

As a result, the final action sequence at the orphanage is effectively chopped into oblivion and verges on visually incoherent at times, with characters jumping around spatially in a way that makes no sense.

Also, by racing through Deadpool's suicide at the start of the movie and skipping over his grief, his prolonged death in act three and subsequent heavenly reunion with Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) end up feeling tiresomely drawn-out.

Honestly, it's surprising the movie didn't make a joke about it, perhaps by having Fred Savage fall asleep, forcing Deadpool to speed through this sequence.

So, Once Upon A Deadpool isn't vital viewing by any means, but again, if you love the movie, you'll probably have some solid fun with it...
