27. How Cap's Shield Broke - Avengers: Age Of Ultron

Every single MCU film has and always will have a ton of Easter eggs for fans to find. Famously, James Gunn has teased that there is one reference in Guardians of the Galaxy that nobody has ever found, and there is something similar in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Rather than an Easter egg, this is a connection between two of the most important scenes in the entire thing, and is something that, if Joss Whedon had not pointed it out in his audio commentary, would have gone almost completely unnoticed.

Whedon even said that around five people would notice the connection, and that Kevin Feige would be one of them. The scenes in question are Tony Stark's vision in which he sees the Avengers all dead at his feet, and the scene towards the end where Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) tears Ultron's (James Spader) chest apart.

Whedon says that they specifically made it so that both Cap's shield and Ultron's heart were torn apart in exactly the same way, something of a nod to Wanda's power - "It's great that she's so powerful, but what if it wasn't great."

It's something that was ultimately explored even further in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and it's crazy to think that a true villainous turn was teased so many years earlier without anyone knowing.
