Oscars 2013: Remembering The Most Famous Infamous Speeches Ever

1. Marlon Brando - Best Actor (The Godfather)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QUacU0I4yU The most infamous of all Oscar speeches was not given by an actual Oscar winner whatsoever. Marlon Brando, who by the early 1970's was slowly growing more tired and distant from Hollywood, decided to boycott the 1973 Academy Awards ceremony over the treatment of Native Americans in film and television, who were constantly portrayed as violent and vicious maniacs. Brando instead decided to send activist Sacheen Littlefeather, in full Apache garb, to speak on his behalf at the podium. Initially given a 15 page speech from Brando to read, Littlefeather was threatened with physical removal from the building if she read the speech in its entirety, and instead gave a condensed speech that generated a handful of boos and hisses from the audience. This speech broke new ground in allowing celebrities to utilize their prowess to become outspoken on political and social beliefs, and to this day Brando's bold move is considered both an influence and a determent to that rare 45 second privilege few ever get. Can you think of any other memorable Oscar acceptance speeches? What speech from this year's Oscars was the most memorable? Have your say in the comments section below.
