Peacemaker: 10 Things You Need To Know About The Suicide Squad TV Series

6. A Scrapped Role In Alan Moore And Dave Gibbons' Watchmen

Here's a crazy wrinkle in Peacemaker's story; while the 1988 reboot from DC Comics didn't make much of a splash, there were plans prior to that to use him and other Charlton Comics characters in Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' groundbreaking and iconic Watchmen.

The plan was for that series to revolve around Peacemaker's murder, with him essentially taking the place of the character who would ultimately come to be known as The Comedian. However, DC Comics was understandably wary of sending all these newly acquired characters "to the butchers," so Moore and Gibbons were convinced to start from scratch with newly created heroes and villains.

For those of you wondering, Rorschach was based on The Question, Silk Spectre is a combination of Phantom Lady and Nightshade, and Dr. Manhattan was once Captain Atom.

While a big screen DC Universe/Watchmen crossover is unlikely, it's definitely interesting to look back at the history of this character, particularly as Gunn could choose to borrow at least a few elements from The Comedian for his interpretation of Peacemaker.
