Pixar: Ranking Their Films From Best To Worst

4. Monsters Inc

Monsters Inc From the second you hear the concept - an entire monster world is powered by scaring children - you know you're on to a winner. It takes the 'monsters in the closet' conceit and turns it on its head as the monsters are the ones really afraid of human contract, believing they'll become infected. Monsters Inc is one of the most purely funny movies made in recent years as Sully and Mike (voiced brilliantly by John Goodman and Billy Crystal respectively) are a a buddy duo for the ages as the jokes come so fast it's hard to keep up. The animation of Sully and his fur is rightly acclaimed, but the sheer scope of the universe Pixar have created here often goes overlooked. Every little detail is given the care it needs and the result is a pristine looking picture in one of Pixar's most technically challenging productions. The soon to be released sequel is hotly anticipated and much like with Toy Story it's impossible to think how they could top the original, but with Pixar you can never write anything off. Monsters Inc also possesses one of the most wonderful endings of the last decade, and if you don't cry, you're a harder man than me.
