Pixar: Ranking Their Films From Best To Worst

5. The Incredibles

The Incredibles The Incredibles features everything from a dysfunctional family to psychotic super villains to an homage to Alan Moore's Watchmen. Until Brave it was the only Pixar movie that was centred on human beings and not animals or inanimate objects, which unveils a whole new dynamic to the Pixar vehicle as it is the most naturally relatable Pixar movie. The father, Mr. Incredible has been confined to an office cubicle, the mother, Elastigirl, is a housewife, the son, Dash, is a promising sports star unable to compete because of his power, the daughter, Violet, is a hormonal teenage girl; which makes each member of the family aimed at a specific target audience, a deft move by Pixar which never feels cynical. The strength of The Incredibles is also its weakness as it loses its grand fantastical aura that came with the worlds completely foreign to us, but calling it a weakness is probably a gross exaggeration. It's a fantastically fun movie, willing to rip on spy and superhero movies with love and appreciation. It's bombastic and whilst it never heats the emotional highs of Pixar's very best work, it's thrilling and worth it for Samuel L Jackson's Frozone alone.
