Predicting DC's 9 Upcoming Superhero Movies Up To 2020

3. Flash/Green Lantern - June 14, 2019

This film is the biggest wildcard on the list, because it has shown absolutely no signs of officially being in development. Former Deadline reporter Nikki Finke teased the possibility of a Flash/Green Lantern team-up film on her website, when she predicted that Warner Bros. would announce 7 DC films at San Diego Comic-Con. The dates she predicted don't quite match up with what Warner Bros. eventually announced, but they're close enough to suggest that she and her sources know a bit about what's going on behind closed doors at the studio. The idea of a Flash/Green Lantern team up makes perfect sense, and would be a fun, refreshing way to introduce both characters into the DCCU. There's a good chance that Flash will show up in Justice League, but rumour has it that Green Lantern may be a bit late to the party. That's likely because Warner Bros. will want to stray as far away from the disastrous 2011 Green Lantern film as possible, and give audiences a bit of time to recuperate before bringing the Emerald Knight back into the fold. 2019 seems a good time to do this, for a number of reasons. First of all, it provides a nice 8-year gap between Green Lantern and the new version of the character. Secondly, it allows the upcoming CW series, The Flash, to garner a bit of an audience of its own and take its own stab at the character. We know for a fact that the TV and film universes will not cross paths, meaning the Flash we see on film will not be the same Flash we see on the CW. However, that doesn't mean that Warner Bros. is ready to bring two live-action versions of the character to the screen at the same time. In fact, they won't need to: having The Flash on TV will allow fans of the character to get their fix before he's properly added to the DCCU lineup. If he and Green Lantern show up in a team-up movie, they could easily then branch off into a Justice League sequel.
