One of the most improved horror sequels of all time, the second Annabelle movie may not be a classic of the genre, but it's nevertheless a well-acted romp with rock solid direction from horror wunderkind David F. Sandberg (Lights Out).

Yes, there are too many jump scares and it's merely a well-executed take on familiar material, but following on from the dreadful 2014 original, it's practically miraculous, and concludes with a tantalising tease for any future movies.

But no, those still waiting for the franchise to totally give into its sillier instincts and go the Chucky route are unfortunately left wanting.
