Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives finds the F13 series in a strange place. With Jason dead as the movie commences - copycat Roy Burns being the villain of the previous picture - here the franchise is at a point where it's almost openly poking fun at itself.

We'd yet to fully jump the shark by introducing telekinetic heroes, heading to the streets of Manhattan, or venturing up into the stars of space, yet Jason Lives is certainly not a straight-laced horror picture in the same mould as previous films.

In Part VI, the table is well and truly set by Jason being brought back to life after being struck by lightning, as the opening credits hit and have Voorhees throw his machete at the audience in a title sequence reminiscent of James Bond.

There's fourth-wall-breaking, there's extremely cheesy death sequences, and we have a final girl here who is a lot more fun than most of her predecessors. That final girl is Megan Garris (Jennifer Cooke), the daughter of the local sheriff and someone who's positioned as the would-be love interest of Tommy Jarvis.

Sure, Megan may take a backseat to Tommy at times, but she's a ballsy, mischievous, independent sort who eventually helps take Jason down with a boat propeller.
