Ranking Every New Movie Trailer From This Past Week

6. Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse

Over the last two decades, audiences have been inundated with Spider-Man films. So getting viewers excited about another Spider-Man film was never going to be an easy task.

And yet, this trailer makes it look effortless. Embracing the strangest (and best) corners of Spider-Man lore, this film embraces the idea of a Spider-verse and parallel universes with glee. The star of the show this time is Miles Morales and Peter Parker is not so much the hero that everyone thinks of him as, but more of a washed-up and reluctant mentor to Miles.

The trailers' two strongest points though are its visuals and its comedy. Visually, the film looks stunning, as if the pages of the '90s comics were brought to life in 3D. It's a kind of art style that's never been used for a feature animated film before and this film is the perfect place to debut it. The comedy is exactly what viewers might expect from an animated film with Lord & Miller's fingerprints all over it; irreverent and meta.

The final joke of Miles asking Peter how many more Spider-people there are, only for Peter to respond with 'save it for Comic-Con' is especially strong.
