Ranking The Best Characters From Snatch - 20 Years Later
2. Mickey O'Neil
Who: Brad Pitt's mystifyingly-spoken yet eminently charismatic "Gypsy" boxer.
What he knows about diamonds: if he does know anything about them, he's not likely to express it in terms that are easily understood.
The head honcho of a band of Irish Travellers rules the roost from their caravan site, which is where Tommy first encounters him in a deal-for-wheels that goes wrong. To settle matters, Mickey challenges Tommy's hired muscle Gorgeous George to a fight.
Not a smart idea, judging from his size - until it emerges that Mickey is, in fact, a bare-knuckle boxing champion. This makes him, as Turkish describes, "harder than a coffin nail." He's also unwilling to play ball with men that are used to having their way. This lands him as well as Turkish and Tommy in a world of trouble... which soon erupts into a fiery war.
Armed with a knockout punch, an almost indecipherable tongue, and a penchant for making wagers involving hares and lurchers, Mickey is the most memorable character in a film filled with faces that are hard to forget. At least, he would be if not for a certain flat-topped gangster...
Best quote: Mickey has one price, and one price only. "She's terribly partial to the periwinkle blue, boys. Have I made myself clear, boys?"
