Ranking Tom Hardy’s 10 Best Performances (By How Much You Can Understand Him)

2. Inception (2010)

Inception is kind of a divisive film, as a lot of Christopher Nolan's films are. But regardless of whether you love it or hate it (and if you hate it then I am sorry but you are objectively wrong) Tom Hardy plays a pretty simple role here. After all he is just your typical immaculately dressed, dream invading international heist operative. Oh, did we mention that this is a Christopher Nolan film? Because he plays a character that is by his own lofty standards so normal, and because the plot is so complicated and detail driven, the audience really benefits from the fact that Hardy is basically just speaking as himself in this one. There are whole sequences where Hardy acts as a sort of exposition machine, helping to guide viewers through the inner workings of Nolan€™s imagination, and it€™s helpful for all involved. His delivery and his manner are crucial to giving the film charm and humour , not to mention in also getting the audience across the narrative finish line. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_dDXhzgsx4 What is particularly impressive is that even though this is a pretty safe performance from Hardy he still radiates cool in ways that other actors couldn€™t even dream of (pun very much intended).
