Ranking What Was Really The Best Film Of Every Year 1990-2021

12. 2010 - The Social Network

The Social Network Andrew Garfield Jesse Eisenberg

Actually won: The King's Speech.

How The King's Speech scored a Best Picture win over The Social Network, Black Swan, Toy Story 3, Inception, The Fighter and True Grit is a mystery for the ages.

Crowd-pleasing and charming as it may be, Tom Hooper's biopic has nothing on any of the aforementioned nominees, particularly The Social Network, which tells the story of the founding of Facebook without taking a breath or missing an opportunity to surprise.

Written with a relentless energy by Aaron Sorkin and directed by David Fincher, The Social Network is raging, funny, aggravating and seamlessly achieved, sporting career-best performances and an electric score. It remains madly popular, whilst The King's Speech has started to shuffle into obscurity.
