20 Recent Movies Ruined For INSANE Reasons

1. The Death of Halyna Hutchins - Rust

But at least these 19 other movies were made without anyone involved coming to physical harm, as sadly can't be said for the Alec Baldwin-starring Western Rust.

During filming in October 2021, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was tragically shot and killed when a live round was accidentally discharged from a prop revolver.

Production immediately ceased amid an investigation, which eventually led to prop armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed being convicted of involuntary manslaughter.

At the behest of Hutchins' family, production was completed in the spring of 2023, though many still questioned the decision to finish the film.

And even though much of Hutchins' gorgeous lensing work is apparent in the final film, her death cast a permanent dark pall over the film's belated release last year, as audiences seemed divided over supporting the film to honour her legacy or ignoring it to avoid enabling the practises which caused her death.

Either way, the controversy led to Rust having a paltry theatrical release before being quietly dumped on streaming, where its legacy is to be remembered largely for the horrifying incident which needlessly took a crew member's life.
