Rogue One: 8 Ways It Could Enhance The Star Wars Mythology

6. It Provides A Well-Needed Break From The Skywalker Clan

Don't get me wrong: the Skywalker saga is and always will be the heart and soul of Star Wars, and we wouldn't have it any other way.

That said, Rogue One's existence is a good thing, in the sense that it allows Star Wars fans to get their fill of the franchise away from the pressures of having to get caught up in the central saga. Because being a dedicated Star Wars fan can be genuinely exhausting sometimes, especially given the new direction of the sequel trilogy (so very mysterious). Debating all those theories takes a lot of mental effort, and having to deal with yearly plot denouements might feel a bit like overkill.

Rogue One is essentially a blessing, then, because it takes the pressure off with regards to the on-going Skywalker saga; it ensures that the story of Anakin, Luke and - if she does turn out to be Luke's daughter - Rey doesn't reach a point of over-saturation, whilst also giving fans new worlds and characters to mull over.

In short, it'll expand the universe and opens up new possibilities without compromising the main story.
