Destruction is the absentee Endless, the one that quit his role to walk the earth. As a result he is unlikely to feature particularly in the first Sandman movie, but the promise of a much expanded part in a Brief Lives sequel should be enough to secure the services of an acting talent like Idris Elba. Elba has appeared in Pacific Rim, Prometheus and Thor as he has attempted to move from critically acclaimed TV actor to movie star, but none of those roles have made quite enough impact to establish him on the big screen. Constantly rumoured for and a fan favourite for almost any fantasy casting session at the moment, Sandman's Destruction could be the memorable movie part that Elba has been looking for. On TV shows like The Wire and Luther, Elba has demonstrated a physicality that is crucial to the part, along with the necessary ability to be calm and laidback, but like a coiled spring that could deliver incredibly destructive violence if overly provoked. His role in Thor has never been significant, but shows he is quite capable at embodying a mythical comic book warrior figure. Other options: Another of Warner Brothers and David Goyer's former Batman stars to be linked with the project is Aaron Eckhart, who could easily bring a light world weary charm and capacity for violence to the part. Sean Bean has also been mentioned.
