Scream 7: 10 Things We Want To See
8. NOT Echoing Scream 3 Too Much
As a requel, the fifth Scream movie hugely paralleled the original Wes Craven film, while Scream VI contained far more echoes of Scream 2 than anyone expected. Beyond the college setting, the killer and motive were disappointingly lifted pretty much lifted wholesale from that film.
Logic would dictate that Scream 7 will mirror the plot, setting, and themes of Scream 3, then, which famously shifted to Hollywood and revealed Sidney's latest antagonist to be a secret half-brother she never knew she had, Roman Bridger (Scott Foley).
But given that one of the most vocal complaints about Scream VI is that the reveal was too obvious, it'd be a huge mistake to continue the echo formula and hew so closely to Scream 3, the consensus-worst film in the series no less.
It's such an obvious route for the next movie to take that we'll hopefully get something different instead: something that only tips its hat to Scream 3 while largely forging its own path.
