Scream 7: 10 Things We Want To See

6. True Crime Satire

There's one single sliver of dialogue in Scream VI which has prompted many fans to consider what the target of Scream 7's satire might be.

Gale mentions that she was unable to sell the movie rights to her latest book based on the previous film's events, noting, "It's all about true-crime limited series these days."

A funny line? Sure, but it also provides a ripe foundation for Scream 7 to serve up a delicious satire of the current true crime boom, where drama series and documentaries focused around serial killers are colossal business for streaming services like Netflix.

What if Scream 7 took place during production of a streaming docu-series about the Ghostface killings to date?

It'd provide a plausible enough reason for the far-flung characters to be brought together again, and could even echo Scream 3's own Hollywood satire in a fresh way that doesn't merely feel like a cynical retread.

Hell, if Neve Campbell doesn't return, they could even go full-meta and make a crack about Sidney not wanting to participate in the documentary.

Given that Scream has gamely satirised so much of the horror genre, shifting the focus towards society's morbid fascination with info-tainment murder media feels like a logical next step. Plus, it'd be hilarious to see some footage of the glossy, in-universe Ghostface series itself.
