9. Who Is The Other Wookie?

A recent trailer for the movie made the rather surprising reveal that Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) will not only hang out with other Wookies during the film, but he appears to have a very special bond with one in particular, who he warmly embraces.

Could this be the long-awaited reintroduction of Chewie's wife, Mallatobuck, who came to prominence during the infamously awful 1978 Star Wars Holiday Special?

Prediction: It's extremely difficult to believe Lucasfilm would dare put Malla in any Star Wars movie, even if a 2015 children's book did confirm her as canon in the reworked Star Wars universe.

It's also easy to just assume this is a romantic embrace, but it's possible that Wookies merely interact that way as friends. Regardless of the Wookie's gender, this looks like it could be one of Chewie's life-long pals (who may very well not survive much of the movie).
