6. Val Sacrifices Herself

Tobias' wife Val is another character who, like Rio, doesn't really get her fair due in the movie, but she does get at least one memorable moment at the climax of the Conveyex heist.

Pinned down by Viper droids, Val has no chance to blow the bridge and also make her safe escape, so she ends up sacrificing herself for the good of the mission. She says her goodbyes to a distraught Tobias and blows the bridge (and herself) to smithereens.

Though Val's demise would've had greater impact if she had a more pronounced presence in the first act, it does nevertheless drive a wedge between Han and Tobias, given Han's subsequent decision to ditch the coaxium in order to make their safe escape.
