Spider-Man: Homecoming - 10 Major Ways Spidey Will Be Different
9. He Wants To Be An Avenger
In Previous Films
Spidey was very much a lone wolf hero, cleaning up New York City alone and never looking for some higher place amongst a larger gallery of heroes. Mostly because they don't really exist in his universe thanks to Sony not owning any other superhero movie rights, presumably.
In Homecoming
As the early marketing suggested almost immediately, Peter Parker is suffering from an excitement hangover after he was given a taste of what it meant to be an Avenger by Tony Stark in Civil War. He's been left behind - for a period of months, apparently - when all he wants is to try-out for the team and join on a more personal basis.
This dynamic will play a significant role in Spider-Man's arc in Homecoming, and the title refers as much to that feeling as it does to the dance that we know will happen somewhere during the film. The fact that he had a brief shot at the big-time also gives him an over-inflated sense of worth that makes him drop the ball (both at school and as New York's friendly neighbourhood protector).
